Commissioning Manager

Based at: Iver, Buckinghamshire, UK, Office

This newly created role is part of GRIDSERVE’s® ongoing growth plans.  You will support the delivery of large-scale EPC Solar farms and Solar & Battery hybrid projects throughout the UK.

Role overview:

Part of the Construction Team and working with the wider project team to ensure that the ongoing commissioning development, planning, execution and completion activities for the project are executed efficiently, safely and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, implement and manage commissioning plan and programme for the project

  • Issuing all associated SAP paperwork and commissioning documents

  • Co-ordinating daily site commissioning activities for contractors

  • Interfacing with Design, Construction and Commissioning Teams from the client and DNO

  • Organising the interface with DNO’s, including interface design, testing and handovers

  • Ensure pre-requisites for all commissioning activities are met

  • Review all testing documentation from contractors

  • Review and approve commissioning plans/ methods from all commissioning contractors/ suppliers

  • Coordinate the works of all commissioning contractors/ suppliers

  • Oversee the progress on site, reporting progress on all Commissioning activities both internally and externally

  • Chairing weekly commissioning meetings and directing weekly commissioning activities

  • Prepare commissioning documentation and collect information for the client handover pack

  • Ensure the commissioning processes of the parties undertaking commissioning works are well defined documented and follow the relevant health and safety procedures

  • Responsible for supervising SAT’s, AP’s, reviewing and controlling HV switching schedules and ensuring safe coordination of activities.

  • Sign-off on completion of commissioned activities as per manufacturers processes for successful handover to the O&M team

  • Responsible for the commissioning of HV components to include protective devices, relays, CTs, VTs, switchgear, RMU’s, Transformers, Substation and ancillary equipment.

  • Responsible for the successful G99 commissioning activities, ensuring through accurate coordination the successful connection of the project in line with the targeted dates

  • Management of all commissioning related snagging and ensuring that all snags are closed out in a timely manner

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001).

 

 

Skills Required:

  • 5+ years' experience with a BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (or any equivalent and relevant qualifications)

  • Senior Authorised Person (Safe switching up to 15KV)

  • City & Guilds Part 1, 2 and part 3 (C Cert)

  • City & Guilds 17th Edition Wiring Regulations to BS 7671

  • City & Guilds 2391. Electrical Inspection and Testing to BS 7671

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Design, Fault Finding, Installation & Commissioning

  • Proven experience of managing of all commissioning responsibilities on site, including setup, management of and closing out of the Commissioning plan for the project

  • Able to manage various sub-contractors commissioning and testing process and procedures

  • Able to compile all Testing and Commissioning Documentation including verifying and signing off on all results

  • A proven track record in successfully delivering multi-disciplinary utility scale projects with specific experience in managing DNO activities

  • Proficient user of project management tools or similar

  • Experience with managing various stakeholders and sub-contractors

  • Strong knowledge of H&S, compliance and governance processes

  • Self-driven, focused, results and quality oriented

  • Team player and innovative with sound judgement and solutions driven

  • The ability to foster self-motivation to achieve tight deadlines

  • Cordial and professional manner

  • Effective communication both verbally and in written form

  • Ability to use MS suite of packages at intermediate level or above.

Other Requirements:

  • The role will involve travelling to sites in the UK on a regular basis to support project and business needs. May need to stay near project sites overnight or for longer periods, depending on location.

  • Clean driving license
