Director of Sales – Electric Vehicle Solutions  

Based in: Iver office or home based and travel as needed

Responsible for:


Delivering and executing the strategy for Vehicle Solutions within GRIDSERVE®. This involves managing and motivating the vehicle solutions team on delivering the leasing PCH and BCH targets. The role supports the CVO in co-ordinating depot, home fleet, destination and strategic charging financed solutions across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Handling overall responsibility for formulating and managing the sales strategy to achieve growth for vehicle solutions

  • Thoroughly understand clients’ needs in order to match client needs & expectations with client centric solutions using our broad range of EV solutions

  • Develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies and programs to identify, approach, and close key customers

  • Identify and enter new leasing markets and opportunities, as well as profitably converting leads into repeat revenue opportunities

  • Maintain the strong working relationship and be the main point of contact between GRIDSERVE® and Hitachi Capital Vehicles Solutions (HCVS)

  • Work with the CVO to develop new relationships based on customer’s vehicle and charging needs and to help to guide the customer through viable GRIDSERVE® charging solutions

  • Work closely with Retail Operations department to ensure the core Vehicle Leasing strategy is implemented, to achieve lead growth requirements from onsite sales channel

  • Identify customer requirements and support services required to meet customer needs and communicate to appropriate department

  • Lead on the progression and monitoring of competitive activities and tactics in the businesses Electric Vehicle Solutions strategy. Communicate this information to the appropriate internal departments

  • Identify emerging opportunities and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and state of competition

  • Providing feedback to team on market trends, unmet needs, and opportunities to deliver greater value to customers by extending company offerings

  • Recruitment and development of team members, ensuring that all employees have clear objectives that are intrinsically linked to those of the wider department and business

  • Develop, support and train key team members and partners on Vehicle Solution Charging functionality, features and benefits, applications, system design and installation relevant for GRIDSERVE®

  • Continuously nurture current and prospective clients with helpful industry knowledge & exciting news that will help them and us to succeed together through our digital, social and other social platforms

  • Effectively managing the resources at your disposal to achieve the required business objectives, including: leasing volumes, profitability, employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction, loyalty levels and others, and to reconsider and redirect strategy in light of any of these objectives not being achieved

  • Analysing the vast array of data available, to make swift, decisive and effective decisions for the benefit of delivering an outstanding result

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001).


Skills Required:


  • At least 5+ yrs. experience as ‘Head of’ or ‘Director’ level within the Automotive sector

  • Proven track record in large corporate, B2C and B2B sales, leading on negotiations from lead qualification to close

  • Previous experience to include working for an automotive dealer group company in a key role

  • A firm grasp of financial measurements is a must; with strong knowledge of pricing, margins, discounts, overhead/cost structures

  • Leadership skills to successfully manage multiple partners and stakeholders

  • Good knowledge of the fleet industry or a genuine interest in cars and ability to assimilate the brand quickly and effectively

  • Background in asset leasing within the automotive industry

  • Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organisation, including executive and C-level

  • Expert in Salesforce/Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent CRM and Sales Management Reporting platforms

  • Strong emotional intelligence and people skills

  • The ability to be able to lead and motivate a team to exceed targets and maximise profitability across all areas of the department is essential

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with appetite for rapid growth organisations

  • Results-oriented and driven

  • Solutions focussed and proven ability to devise and implement strategies to benefit both the company and our clients

  • Previous experience with electric vehicles is not essential but candidates must be willing to learn the sector and be able to confidently articulate this learning to prospective customers

  • Premium and/or Prestige brand experience would be highly advantageous

  • Full UK driving licence required
