Senior Field Service Engineer

Based in: Project Sites as required

Responsible for:

Assisting the Field Service Engineering team with the performance delivery of O&M contracts, working independently and as a Senior Engineer to maintain solar farms, solar & hybrid and EV forecourts™ sites, including regular inspection on all electrical components.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for routine maintenance, testing, and remedial work on deployed solar PV and Battery Storage systems

  • Responsible for complying with procedures

  • Responsible for performing Preventative Maintenance accordingly with the PPM annual plan

  • Responsible for performing Corrective Maintenance as directed

  • Reporting of activities performed on site, daily basis, through the Field Operations Systems or manual reports as applicable

  • Responsible for ensuring the local Field Service Engineers are trained and working to the appropriate standards, and are complaint with method statements and work instructions

  • To audit and assess the technical work of the local Field Service Engineers to identity improve opportunities

  • To co-ordinate and participate in major incidents and repairs

  • Contribute to the continual development of method statements and work instructions

  • Own risk assessment, analysis and operational limitations. Report all near misses to line manager

  • Responsible for supervision and coordination of third-party contractors carrying out works on site where applicable

  • Coordinate 3rd party contractors in order to comply with H&S Regulations

  • Manage site respective matters with external stakeholders such as Landlord, Technical Advisers and Clients

  • Keeping accurate and detailed records of electrical testing, suitable for audit

  • Fault finding for any system that is not performing correctly

  • Assisting with insurance and warranty claims

  • Taking ownership of the site and everything this encompasses to ensure that matters are dealt with in a timely and efficient matter

  • Maintain data security and confidentiality by using information within the parameters of the job role, any applicable SLAs, the company data policies and / or privacy notices and the statutory guidelines set out within the GDPR and any associated UK legislation. Pay particular regard to any data that is generated by CCTV or that may be classified as personal data

  • Comply with all required fire, health and safety requirements for the environment in which you are working, including making yourself aware of the current applicable policies and risk assessments and acting accordingly, and attending any required training

  • Comply and adhere to bio security, health and safety and confined spaces protocols

  • Such other duties and responsibilities as required

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System and Policy (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001).

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification in an electrical/mechanical or engineering discipline

  • Must hold City & Guilds 17/18th BS7671 Wiring Regs.

  • City & Guilds 2399-13-Solar PV Installation or competent experience

  • City & Guilds 2399-14-Solar PV maintenance or equivalent or competent experience

  • Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Electrical Installation

  • OP40 Certified or equivalent

  • City & Guilds 2391-52 Test & Inspect or equivalent is desirable

  • 3 day Fist Aid and Fire Marshall Certificate is highly desirable

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years Solar PV O&M Experience on Utility Scale Solar

  • 3+ years Network diagnostics & Remote communications experience

  • 3+ years LV/HV Planned Preventative maintenance G99 (G59) Competent

  • Significant HV switching, 1+ years’ experience (Authorised person within Solar PV)

  • Thorough understanding of PV O&M maintenance techniques and standards, including electrical tests and thermographic inspections

  • Experience of being a clear technical leader

  • Ability to write and review risk assessments and method statements

  • Familiarity with Earthing Systems – including measuring and monitoring Relays

  • Excellent understanding of Central/String Inverters with relevant Manufacturers training

  • Experience of being a problem solver, with a ‘can do’ attitude and ability to adapt

  • Excellent computer skills with a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as CMMS and Reporting software

  • Excellent understanding of CCTV systems and remote monitoring systems

  • Knowledge of power electronics and circuitry, power generation technologies and equipment is desirable

  • Proven knowledge of H & S and up to date with current regulations

  • Able to work independently, self-motivated, focused, results and quality oriented

  • High standards of workmanship and professionalism

  • Team player, effective communicator

  • The ability to achieve tight deadlines

Other requirements:

  • This role is field based within a region primarily designated to you, however, you may also be routinely required to work on other company sites within the UK. Overnight stay may be required for periods of time until jobs are completed.  All accommodation and travel expenses will be covered by the Company

  • Full clean driving license

  • Outdoor nature of work makes it physically demanding, able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
