Senior Project Engineer

Based at: UK Iver Office, SL0 and Project Sites as required


Responsible for:


Delivery of all project engineering requirements for industrial & commercial battery & hybrid systems and Electric Forecourts™, including electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Take projects from mobilisation through to completion on time and in budget in a controlled and co-ordinated manner

  • Production of detailed site surveys reports which capture all engineering requirements

  • Performing calculations, writing specifications, preparing tenders, reviewing equipment proposals and evaluating or selecting equipment

  • Management of multiple projects from early phases to completion of detailed engineering

  • Primary technical point of contact for the project, providing technical advice and solutions

  • Liaise between the project manager and the technical disciplines involved in the project

  • Maintain and further develop relationships with key stakeholders on projects

  • Produce progress reports and lead progress meetings with clients and internal team

  • Check project deliverables including drawings, schedules, datasheets, specifications

  • Maintain supplier tracker management document to update and highlight concerns that may impact project timelines

  • Assist with identifying technical solutions

  • Assist with preparation of designs of Battery & Hybrid systems and Electric Forecourts™ using AutoCAD, including equipment specification, bill of materials (BOM)

  • All technical solutions and designs must meet technical, electrical standards and CDM (where applicable) regulations. Ensure quality of design meets Company standards, including single line diagrams

  • Able to conduct electrical calculations, cable sizing and earthing calculations

  • Able to trade efficiency, output, and costs to optimize system

  • Able to research new technologies and provide improved project engineering solutions

  • Ensure good communication between the UK office and international colleagues in other offices

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001).


Skills Required:


  • Must have experience of working within a similar technical project engineering role, having successfully delivered projects related to either solar, battery storage technology or EV charging

  • Degree or an equivalent level of qualification in Electrical or Mechanical engineering is essential

  • Must have previous experience in design within renewables market i.e. EV charging, solar or battery storage technologies

  • Experience in designing DC & AC (LV) systems, understanding of electrical schematics, string configuration and layout drawings

  • Must have experience of using AutoCAD and PVsyst

  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and perform performance review of working systems

  • Working knowledge of battery storage or electric charging including their specifications, cost, efficiency, code compliance, performance, and reliability

  • Knowledge of safety features, grounding, disconnects, system testing, and troubleshooting

  • Ability to interpret topographical drawings

  • Ability to communicate and interpret needs effectively

  • Attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills

  • Advanced IT skills and be fully conversant with the Microsoft Office suite

  • Flexible mindset, team player and solutions driven

  • Understanding of LV/HV Distribution Design and Protection Coordination is highly desirable

  • BS7671 17th & 18th edition qualification and ability to deliver designs and specify required equipment according to the regulations is highly desirable
