Driving an electric car doesn’t come much more luxurious than the Genesis G80. The South Korean carmaker may be a relative newcomer to the UK, but the G80 is a talented statement of intent. This elegant executive saloon provides a comfortable and serene drive but also a healthy dose of performance making it an appealing alternative to the well-established German brands.

The Genesis G80 has a plush interior with expensive materials adorning the whole cabin. Comfort is a key selling point for the executive saloon which is as much for driving as it is for being driven in. Road Active Noise Control technology delivers a silent ride by reducing surface and wind noise and a heap of advanced driver safety technology takes away much of the stress of driving such a big car. It won’t rival a SUV for practicality, but a 354-litre boot is still enough for your golf clubs or holiday luggage.  

Performance and range

You might not have heard of the G80 but the luxury Genesis boasts one of the fastest charging speeds of any car on sale – faster than a Porsche Taycan. At 240kW, you’ll get 10-80% in just 22 minutes. It’s no slouch on the road, either, with a dual motor producing 364bhp, good enough for 0-62mph in under five seconds. The 87kWh battery delivers a sizeable 323 miles of range before needing to recharge. Clever battery optimisation technology also works in the background to maximise your range whatever the conditions. There’s a single well-equipped trim to choose although an optional Innovation Pack adds plenty of top-spec gear.
