Charging at an Electric Forecourt®

1

High Power

Equipped with CCS and CHAdeMO connectors, our High Power chargers are some of the most powerful in the country and can provide a maximum 400kW capacity, meaning the latest electric vehicles can gain 100 miles of range in less than 10 minutes.

2

Low Power (up to 22kW)

Our Low Power chargers provide even more EV charging flexibility as they use a Type 2 connector and provide a maximum 22kW capacity. You’ll find the Type 2 connector on most plug-in electric vehicles, regardless of age.

3

Contactless or app payment

Paying for your charging session with GRIDSERVE is easier than one, two, three. To pay, simply tap your contactless card or device against the payment terminal. You can also charge using the GRIDSERVE app. We support Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. We also accept Allstar One Electric, Allstar visa and Mina Chargepass.

Accessibility

Our Electric Forecourt® designs include disabled parking, access ramps, accessible washrooms, lifts to access all areas and braille on the signage throughout the interior of the building. We engage with relevant parties to audit Electric Forecourt® sites and suggest continuous improvements that also go on to inform our future designs.

Retail and relaxation at an Electric Forecourt®

An Electric Forecourt® is much more than an EV charging destination.

It features inspiring areas to work, rest and shop, with some of your favourite brands including Costa and Little Fresh. There are office pods that are rentable by the hour and our EV Gurus are always on hand to help when you need them.

Electrifying events

Our Electric Forecourts® provide the ultimate EV experience and that extends to our ability to deliver and host bespoke events for your business.

Our spaces are perfect for corporate event hire and we offer a range of venue packages that can be tailored to your needs, including electric vehicle showcase areas, meeting rooms, lounge areas and catering.

Community-first

We’re driven by a desire to deliver an EV charging network that works for everyone, including drivers who are unable to charge their car at home.

The Electric Forecourt® has the ability to change the charging paradigm overnight, proving that change can be empowering rather than painful. Every Electric Forecourt® is also designed specifically to serve the needs of its local community, providing a social glue to bind both people and ideas.

Electric Forecourt® facilities

Talk to our GRIDSERVE EV Gurus: If you don’t have an electric vehicle yet, why not speak to one of our GRIDSERVE EV Gurus? Each Electric Forecourt® has its own team of impartial experts that know their kW from their kWh, so you can ask them any questions about charging or making the switch to electric.

Our award-winning Electric Forecourts® provide the best EV charging experience with the latest High Power chargers, leading retail outlets, remote working areas and rentable office space.

While each site is unique with its own combination of facilities and services, here is an overview of the types of things to expect at each site.

Our charging facilities are available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Outside of retail hours, you can call our customer service hotline on 0800 240 4242 if you need assistance with EV charging.

Depending on the site you’ll find a range of chargers including:

  • DC High Power chargers up to 350kW (CCS & CHAdeMO)
  • AC Low Power chargers (Type 2) up to 22kW
  • Tesla Superchargers (with CCS)

Please note, there are no Tesla CCS combo 2 adapters available on site so please bring your own, if needed.

Untethered and tethered charging

All our DC chargers are tethered, which means you can plug your car into the charger using the cable attached to the unit.

However, the AC chargers are untethered, so you’ll need to bring your charging cable with you. However, if you do forget you can borrow one during opening hours from a member of the team.

In the event that you forget to pack up your cable after using the untethered chargers, please drop us a line at Contact us and a member of the Electric Forecourt® team will be in touch about returning it.

Our Electric Forecourt® designs include disabled parking, access ramps, accessible washrooms, lifts to access all areas and braille on the signage throughout the interior of the building. We engage with relevant parties to audit each Electric Forecourt® and suggest continuous improvements that also go on to inform the design of future locations.

During retail opening hours, we have a team of GRIDSERVE Gurus onsite who are more than happy to help you charge your vehicle – particularly useful if you’re visiting for the first time – and to help with any other questions you may have around charging or electric vehicles.

For out of hours assistance, please contact our Customer Service hotline on 0800 240 4242.

The number of toilets differ per site but will always include an accessible bathroom, ambulant bathroom and baby changing facilities. Customers can use these during retail opening hours.

We love our pets at GRIDSERVE and have lots of space for your furry friends to stretch their paws. We also welcome well-behaved pets into the main building.

Electric Forecourt® parking

We offer free parking at our Electric Forecourts® whether you’re plugging in or stopping by to grab a coffee, stock up on snacks, take a test drive or use our meeting space. You don’t have to drive an electric vehicle, either.

The rules about how long you can stay differ between sites.

There are no time limits on parking at Braintree and we have plenty of space on site for parking, even if you’re not plugged in to charge. You’re welcome to stay as long as you like.

There are no time limits on parking at Norwich and we have plenty of space on site for parking, even if you’re not plugged in to charge. You’re welcome to stay as long as you like.

At London Gatwick Electric Forecourt® we have a one-hour time limit for parking. The automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system is managed by Nexus Park.

You’re still welcome to park for free for an hour while you charge, shop or unwind. But once your time is up, you’ll need to head off to avoid any unexpected charges.

We’ve put this in place due to the limited parking availability at the site. Our aim is to keep people flowing through the Electric Forecourt® and make every customer’s experience as stress-free as possible.

In case of any parking-related queries or issues, please contact NexusPark directly.

Book a meeting room

Need a workspace that will inspire? Our Electric Forecourts® have private meeting rooms that can be booked online and are rentable by the hour.

Key features include TV screens, frosted privacy glass, an air purifier and free WiFi.

You can book one of our meeting rooms online here.

Our meeting rooms start from just £16/hour. To book yours, please click here.

To cancel your meeting room booking, please select the ‘amend your booking’ option in the body of your email confirmation and follow the prompts.

We don’t provide catering or tea and coffee with a meeting room booking. However, you can purchase hot and cold refreshments from Costa Coffee and Little Fresh.

You’re welcome to consume snacks in the meeting pods, but we kindly ask that you leave the rooms as they were when you arrived.

Designed to be different

1

Sustainable construction

The Electric Forecourt® has established a new visual identity that speaks both to our sustainable energy origins and our dedication to decarbonise everything we do. We’re working towards zero emissions construction and we want the decisions we’re taking to inspire other businesses to build more thoughtfully.

2

Solar array

Charging an electric vehicle is only ever going to be as clean as the inputs used, which is why we’re making deep commitments to developing a Sun-to-Wheel energy ecosystem. The solar panels seen on site are also used to power our buildings, working in tandem with onsite battery storage systems.

3

Biodiversity

Electric Forecourts® include native-specific planting schemes to support biodiversity. This often includes green walls, which help to clean the air and insulate the building, while irrigation is provided by a rainwater harvesting system.

4

Copper cladding

A building that promotes and facilitates some pretty significant societal change needs to have an expressive colour palette, and copper is our calling card. It’s also a major component in electric vehicle motors, batteries, inverters and in charging stations.

5

Curved corners

From a structural engineering point of view, curves are really difficult. Yet from an aesthetic point of view, curves look awesome and are core to our aesthetic vision.
