The Honda e is perhaps the ideal car for anyone looking to lease an electric vehicle in the city. It’s packed with ridiculously cool features and specifically engineered to be able to nip around city streets and squeeze into tight spaces. Packed with cool features, Honda have created one of the more memorable drives around. Japanese cars have long been associated with inventiveness and must-have extras, and the creators of the Honda e have taken that to heart. If you’re after a head-turning chic city drive, this is probably it.
Key highlights
One of the most immediately notable features of the Honda e is the number of screens. They’re everywhere, without being intrusive. Two LCD displays are there for, say, a SatNav and then in-car entertainment - with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto of course included. Then there’s the full-width dashboard screen, where you can just pop up a wallpaper or a calming moving aquarium.
They’ve even included a three-pin domestic plug socket and HDMI connection. Why? So that when you’re waiting for the car to charge, you can pass the time by hooking up your games console.
The feel of the rest of the interior reflects this drive to be the coolest kid on the block. Everything is created to be both functional and effortlessly chic.
And the exterior is distinctively cutesy-cool, too. The engineering under the bonnet is extraordinary: attention has been paid to weight distribution, for example, ensuring the car has the best handling. Alloy wheels add a classy touch. Then there are all those other features we don’t know how we lived without, such as reversing cameras, front and rear parking sensors, traffic light recognition and cruise control. It’s an easy, fun car to drive.
Performance and range
The Honda e has a teeny tiny turning circle, assisted parking features, and gets off the blocks fast: 0-62mph in just 9 seconds. A full charge will take you up to 137 miles, and 80% charge can be achieved in just half an hour.
