The Lotus Eletre is like no car you’ve seen before from the storied British sports car maker. It’s a sporting luxury SUV with huge performance, a striking design and a host of premium features to make it one of the most desirable electric cars money can buy.
Key highlights of the Lotus Eletre
The Lotus Eletre is perhaps the ultimate ‘super-SUV’, aiming to tick many boxes for the well-heeled looking to lease an electric car with style, space, speed and a sense of occasion.
Unlike no Lotus before it, the high-tech new Eletra is built in China with parent company Geely’s knowhow (Geely also owns Volvo). The sumptuous interior comes with a wide range of options and features, making this a full-on luxury car with a sporting edge.
Being a Lotus, this isn’t just like any other electric SUV - it’s one of the lightest and most dynamic cars in its class. With dual motors for all-wheel-drive, air suspension and four-wheel-steering that makes it easier to turn in town yet more stable at high speeds, this is one of the most capable SUVs ever made.
Three Lotus Eletre trim levels are offered. Base versions still come with 22-inch alloy wheels (with other sizes available), LIDAR technology for autonomous driving functions, a 15.1-inch touchscreen, a 15 speaker audio system, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats and four-zone climate control.
Stepping up to the Lotus Eletre S brings an active rear spoiler, soft-close doors, privacy glass and a huge 23 speaker sound system. The top-spec Lotus Eletre R focuses on performance upgrades with a lower ride height, retuned suspension with a racier Track mode and a wider active front grille. An option for the Eletre is to remove the fifth seat and have four ‘Executive’ seats instead.
Lotus Eletre performance and range
Both the entry-level Eletre and the Eletre S come with the same 603bhp dual-motor power, which is enough for a 0-62mph time of 4.5 seconds and a 160mph top speed.
Not enough for you? Check out the Lotus Eletre R with its 905bhp output and two-speed transmission. This makes it capable of 0-62mph in just 2.95 seconds and a 165mph top speed.
Opting for the more powerful Eletre R doesn’t harm range, unusually, because Lotus still quotes an official WLTP range for every Eletre of up to 373 miles on a charge. The real-world estimate is around 317 miles of range.
The Lotus Eletre is also one of the fastest charging EVs ever made, promising rapid charging speeds of up to 350kW. That’s enough for a 10-80% charge in as little as 20 minutes.
