So far, Tesla is the 21st-century world leader in zero-emission vehicles. They have developed their brand from pure sports car chic to include more practical models. In fact, it topped our 2022 list for the best family friendly electric cars for its every day practicality. That's not to say they lose out on style, because Tesla cars do tend to be the epitome of elegance. A good option to consider in electric car leasing is the Model Y, a small to midsize SUV. It slots into the Tesla range somewhere between the Model 3 and the previous hatchback Model X, with all new features and ultra-modern styling.
Key highlights
The Tesla Model Y is designed to provide maximum versatility in a luxury vehicle. It's able to carry up to seven passengers, with adaptable fold-down seats and a UV-protected glass roof for all-round views. All rear seats can be folded flat independently, which provides flexible storage capacity for canoes, skis and even furniture. This makes the Model Y an excellent EV leasing choice for family holidays or adventure sports enthusiasts.
Like the Model 3 and Model S in this range, the Model Y has a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive capability, with inbuilt safety architecture such as rigid body structure and impact protection. It sports the latest in travelling technology, with a 15" touchscreen, plus Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity with media and navigational apps.
Its advanced drive capabilities also include several autopilot and self-drive functions, which free you from carrying out some routine manoeuvres on the motorway or while parking. Ultrasonic sensors are fitted on the vehicle, together with front, rear and side-mounted cameras providing 360° visibility.
Performance & range
The guiding principles of Tesla are sustainable energy and transport efficiency. The Model Y is offered in two options: the Long Range version has a driving range of 315 miles, with a top speed of 135mph. The Performance version can achieve 155mph, with 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, but the range is slightly less. You can recharge nearly half of the battery capacity in only 15 minutes, at a supercharger station.

The Tesla Model Y can be compared in size and performance to some high-range estate cars, such as the Jaguar iPace, the Mercedes EQC or perhaps the Volkswagen iD4.
