The Volkswagen ID.4 is the brand’s first battery-powered SUV and is a practical and attractive car that offers VW quality and performance with zero emissions.
Developed as a big sibling to the smaller Volkswagen ID.3 – the first all-electric car in the VW range – the ID.4 is aimed at those who need more power, more storage and even more range. With roof rails, an electric tailgate and a towing bracket, the ID.4 is a versatile and spacious option for family and business users alike. Because it’s an all-electric vehicle, business customers will pay extra-low Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax rates on their ID.4 lease.
Key highlights of the VW ID.4
The VW ID.4 is aimed at families looking for a practical, comfortable and safe SUV… and that’s a lot of people.
With a 543-litre boot that beats many rivals, there’s plenty of space for all your luggage, buggies, shopping and everything in between. In the cabin there’s plenty of room, too, along with a healthy standard kit list with plenty of options to upgrade to things like heated seats and wireless smartphone charging.
The ID.4 also has a range of active assistance features such as Front Assist, Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and front and rear parking sensors as standard to keep the family safe.
Efficiency is a real strength of the ID.4, too, with its aerodynamic design distinguishing it from most SUVs on the market.
VW ID.4 performance & range
If you lease the ID.4, you’ll have the choice of four models with two batteries: Pure and Pure Performance with a 52 kWh battery, and Pro, Pro Performance and GTX with 77 kWh. Depending on model the range on a charge is from 211 miles all the way to a strong 328 miles. With rapid charging as standard, the ID.4 is a practical choice for those long-distance journeys.

Different versions of the ID.4 will have varying range amounts, with the lowest coming in the form of the Style Pure Performance trim at an official range of 211 miles or a real world estimate of 179 miles. If long range numbers are what you’re looking for, the Life Edition Pro Performance offers a whopping 328 miles of official range, which clocks in at 279 miles for the real world estimate.
There are currently two different battery sizes available with the Volkswagen ID.4. The entry-level models have a 52kWh pack which offers an affordable price and lighter weight for greater efficiency. Opt for the larger 77kWh pack and you get a longer range and faster peak charging speed.
The VW ID.4 offers a wider range of trim levels than the majority of EVs on the leasing market, where you can choose from the following: Max, Life, Style, Family, GTX, GTX Max, Life Edition and Style Edition. Some are available in Performance form, which adds a small amount of extra power.
Opting for the 52kWh battery pack gives you a maximum charging speed of 110 kW, which can charge the vehicle from 5-80% in just 36 minutes. Opting for the bigger 77kWh battery increases the maximum speed to 135kW, resulting in a 5-80% charge in 29 minutes.
If hooked up to a 7.2kW public or home charger, a full charge would take around 7 hours 30 minutes. You can find the perfect charger while on your journey from one of the 160+ EV Charging Stations on the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway.
When charging your ID.4 at one of GRIDSERVE’s EV charging stations throughout the UK, the exact price you’ll pay will depend on the type of charger you use and how long you use it for. You can find more information on the GRIDSERVE pricing page.
Different editions of the ID.4 have different sizing measurements, so the best way to find the exact specifications for your chosen model is to open up the ‘Technical Data’ information when on the model page. You’ll then be able to view all the information you need, from height and length to charging times and much more.
