The Volvo EX30 is the smallest and most affordable electric car Volvo has made to date. With its stylish exterior and minimalist interior combined with a long list of technology and impressive technical specification, the Volvo EX30 is an excellent small electric SUV to lease
Key highlights of the Volvo EX30
The Volvo EX30 is an exciting new compact electric car from the Swedish brand known for style and safety in equal measure. With an elegant design, strong range and serious performance, it’s also a surprisingly good value electric car to lease.
Sitting under the C40 in Volvo’s range, the EX30 features classic Volvo design cues such as ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlights and C-shaped tail lights, but also features a blanked-off grille. Inside it’s a minimalist look, with neat details and a large 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen using the latest Google software.
Despite the affordable price, every Volvo EX30 comes equipped with heated front seats and steering wheel, a wireless phone charging pad and a rear-view camera, while electric seat adjustment, a 360-degree camera and a panoramic glass roof are fitted in Ultra trim.
Volvo EX30 performance and range
Two different battery sizes are available with the Volvo EX30. The entry-level 51kWh battery covers 214 miles on a charge according to official WLTP testing, which equates to around 182 miles in real-world conditions.
Opting for the larger 69kWh battery brings that official range up to 298 miles on the Extended Range Plus model, or 286 miles on the Performance model. The real-world figures are 254 miles and 243 miles respectively.
In terms of rapid charging speeds, the smaller 51kWh battery is capable of up to 134kW, or a 10-80% charge in 26 minutes. That rises to 150kW with the 69kWh battery, taking around 28 minutes for the same charge.
Performance-wise, even the entry-level 51kWh model puts out 272bhp for a 0-62mph time of 5.7 seconds. Go for the bigger 69kWh single motor model and that drops to 5.3 seconds, while the dual-motor Performance model manages the same sprint in 3.6 seconds.
