The Maxus T90EV is the first electric pickup available on sale in the UK. Designed for both on and off-road driving, the T90EV combines a stylish and sporty design with everyday practicality – all at an affordable price. That price tag is helped by the fact Maxus has managed to deliver a payload of 1,000kg and therefore the T90EV qualifies for commercial vehicle status and the subsequent appealing tax breaks for business owners.

The Maxus T90EV is a great option for those who need a pickup truck but want to go green. In fact, electric pickups make a lot of sense – they spend most of their time in nature where diesel fumes are not welcome and the instant torque of electric power means they can deal with rough terrain and heavy loads. The T90EV delivers on all of this, with a 1,000kg payload and 1,500kg towing capacity. There’s just one trim level on the T90EV, with generous kit included as standard such as reversing cameras and sensors, a touchscreen infotainment system and faux leather trim.

Performance and range

The official figures of the T90EV are impressive with 220 miles of range from an 88.5kwh battery – that’s plenty for a day out in the wilderness, let alone for landscape gardeners or maintenance crews. Despite lower ground clearance than the non-electric version, the T90EV is still extremely capable off-road, as well as delivering powerful performance on the road thanks to a 150kW motor.

The Maxus T90EV is currently in a league of its own, with no other electric pickups on sale in the UK. We’re still waiting on an official UK launch date for the pricier and more performance-orientated Rivian R1T pickup, so if you need something in the meantime that’s capable off-road, consider the Toyota bZ4X or Subaru Solterra.
