GRIDSERVE is continuing its widespread expansion of electric vehicle charging sites at pace in 2024, with 90 new charging bays operational across 11 new locations. This brings the total number of charging bays to over 1,300 at over 180 locations across the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway.
In the first three months of 2024, GRIDSERVE opened 70 charging bays at Electric Super Hubs across the UK’s busiest roads. A new Electric Super Hub on the M4 takes the total on this motorway alone to eight GRIDSERVE High Power locations from London to Swansea, with 65 charging bays. On the M2, two new sites bring 20 High Power charging bays to this busy motorway in Kent. On the M5 between Birmingham and Bristol, 18 High Power charging bays have been added, including six at Roadchef Strensham Northbound. Additionally, a new Electric Super Hub has opened on Newbold Road, Rugby providing six High Power charging bays.
For those needing reliable charging while shopping, GRIDSERVE has opened three new Electric Retail Hubs with 20 Medium Power charging bays. GRIDSERVE’s partnership with Dobbies continues with the opening of Dobbies Edinburgh, with further Electric Retail Hubs available at Slough Retail Park and Priory Fields Retail Park near Taunton.
As with all GRIDSERVE locations, contactless payment is accepted to make it as easy as possible for EV drivers to charge on their journey. All GRIDSERVE charging bays are also powered by 100% net zero carbon energy including power sleeved from the company’s pioneering hybrid solar and battery farms.

The first quarter of 2024 also saw the official opening of London Gatwick Electric Forecourt®. Elsewhere on the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway, construction continues on the next Electric Forecourt® in Stevenage, near the historic Knebworth Estate, with opening forecast for late 2024.
