The Electric Super Hub at Moto Rugby has been upgraded to provide 24 GRIDSERVE High Power charging bays, doubling the number available at the busy site on the M6. The new High Power charging bays become the latest addition to Moto and GRIDSERVE’s nationwide effort to transform access to charging facilities and prevent charging anxiety for EV motorists.
The Electric Super Hub at Moto Rugby is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the chargers are powered by 100% net zero carbon energy including power sleeved from the company’s pioneering hybrid solar and battery farms.
The upgraded site has CCS connectors, accepts contactless payment and provides real-time status updates to a myriad of popular EV charging maps. With the new upgraded chargers, Moto Rugby is now available on the GRIDSERVE charging app, where users can find, navigate and pay for charging in one place.
18 months ago, Zap-Map revealed the Electric Super Hub at Moto Rugby as England’s most popular public charging location. Moto’s sites have the potential for further expansion, as needed in the coming months and years to grow in line with EV ownership and demand. At Moto Rugby, a further 12 GRIDSERVE high power charging bays will be added before the end of the year.
Moto Hospitality’s Chief Executive, Ken McMeikan, said: “The expansion of High Power charging bays at our flagship Rugby site will provide a significant boost for EV drivers travelling on the M6 by helping to reduce range anxiety.”
“It demonstrates our continued commitment to revolutionising the EV charging experience for EV drivers on the UK’s motorway network through increased capacity, reliability, simplicity and speed.”
Roy Williamson, Interim CEO and Executive Chairman, said: “Moto Rugby is a hugely popular site so we are thrilled to upgrade the location to an impressive 24 High Power charging bays.
“GRIDSERVE are committed to delivering reliable and easy to use EV charging across the UK. We are constantly learning and making improvements to our sites. We look forward to welcoming drivers to the new and improved Moto Rugby Electric Super Hub.”
Moto now has 401 GRIDSERVE charging bays across 42 sites in the UK. GRIDSERVE’s Electric Highway now has over 195 locations with over 1,500 charging bays. The Electric Highway consists of Electric Super Hubs which can be mostly found at Motorway Service Areas, Electric Retails Hubs at locations such as Dobbies and Electric Forecourts®.
