The Kia EV9 has won the 2024 World Car of the Year award, announced at this week’s New York Motor Show.
The large family SUV, dubbed ‘a Range Rover for the modern era’, took the World Electric Vehicle category as well as the ultimate honour of World Car of the Year, from a final fully-electric shortlist that included the BYD Seal and Volvo EX30.
A jury of 100 distinguished automotive journalists representing 29 countries recognised the Kia EV9’s innovative design, commendable range, spacious seven-seat interior and competitive price point.
Founded in 2003, previous winners of the World Car of the Year award include the Hyundai IONIQ 6 (2023), Hyundai IONIQ 5 (2022) and Volkswagen ID.4 (2021), highlighting the rise and popularity of electric cars.
