The EQC was Mercedes-Benz’s very first fully electric car; the original model in the EQ range. The tech-focused 4x4 was introduced in 2019, and remains one of the quietest EVs on the road today.
Key highlights
Although clearly modelled on the Mercedes-Benz GLC, the EQC demonstrates influences from three of the best-loved electric cars currently dominating the EV leasing market: the Audi e-tron, the BMW iX, and the Jaguar I-PACE. It’s got the luxurious interiors of the BMW and Audi, combined perfectly with the improved range of the Jaguar. In fact, the range is what shocks most people. The EQC has a pretty small battery, yet its innovative lightweight design means its range performance is mightily impressive.
Another highlight of the EQC – and of all EQ models including the EQA, EQS, and EQV – is the built-in MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) technology. The EQC features a substantial touchscreen system, which can also be voice-activated by using the ‘Hey Mercedes’ command.
Performance & range
The EQC gave it a good shot, but the EQA just narrowly beats it to second place in the Mercedes-Benz range leaderboard. The difference is hardly noticeable, though. The EQA gets up to 264 miles on a single charge; the EQC, 255 miles. It’s a very impressive range, making the EQC a good tourer.
Rapid charging time for the EQC is just 40 minutes, which means it’s quick to charge up during a picnic break on long journeys. Cross-country trips or extended family getaways aren’t a problem for this EV.
Acceleration is certainly nothing to complain about, too, going from 0-60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds. The EQC could never be described as being particularly sporty, but it’s definitely very agile, and moves swiftly when it needs to. That’s thanks to the two electric motors, which many EVs today lack.

Similar models
While an impressive car, the EQC doesn’t stand out in the electric car leasing market for any particularly unique characteristic or feature. In fact, there are a lot of models that offer a similar size cabin, a similar range, and a similar on-road experience. The Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-PACE are two very closely related models to consider if you’re not set on leasing a Mercedes-Benz electric car.
