While Mercedes-Benz boasts a decently sized collection of electric cars suitable for EV leasing – known as the EQ range – the EQV is the brand’s first (and only) fully electric people carrier. First introduced in 2020, the EQV brings the Mercedes MPV into the world of electric. It has fast become a hugely popular family car. Two spacious backseat rows help to make it ideal for both school runs and big family getaways.
Key highlights
It can feel that sustainability and family life aren’t easy to integrate sometimes. One thing we’re seeing all too often is car manufacturers taking their top petrol 7-seaters and removing the extra row to make room for hybrid technology. Electric car leasing hasn’t been particularly inclusive of families – until now.
The EQV changes the landscape. And it does it in style. Although technically considered to be a V-Class vehicle, as the name suggests, the real highlight here is that Mercedes have managed to make the MPV exciting and, dare we say it, somewhat sexy. While it’s most definitely a V-Class on the outside, there’s a subtle hint of S-Class inside. Take a look at its luxurious Nappa leather seats – the same as you’ll find in the EQS – and the super-smart, streamlined dash. There’s more to the EQV than meets the eye.
Performance & range
As you might expect with a vehicle of this size, the EQV behaves very much like an MPV on the road. It’s never going to win awards for being the fastest on the market, or for accelerating the quickest, but you don’t need it to. What you do need is confidence that the car can get you and your family where you’re going in safety and comfort, with a little luxury thrown in. And that’s what you get with the EQV.
However, performance and range are still impressive. You can travel about 213 miles on a single charge, and the battery can go from 10% to 80% in just 45 minutes on a rapid charge. Acceleration-wise, you’re looking at 0-62 mph in just over 12 seconds.

Similar models
Although other models in the Mercedes-Benz EQ range, like the EQA and EQC, share the same in-car technology system (MBUX), none of them are going to be able to cope with a large family like the EQV.
If you don’t have your heart set on leasing a Mercedes-Benz electric car, there are a couple of other electric 7-seaters that you can take a look at: the Peugeot Rifter and the Vauxhall Vivaro Life.
