Volkswagen is one of the biggest manufacturers in the world, producing a range of passenger cars and commercial vehicles that people love. Its vehicles are reliable, well-engineered and affordable – and some even add an extra dose of fun, such as the iconic California campervan.
Key highlights
Under its Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles arm, the manufacturer has long offered a complete range of small, medium and large vans, as well as a rugged pick-up. Each can be converted in any number of ways to make sure you’ve got the van that suits you, plus its award-winning aftersales service will give your business peace of mind.
Volkswagen & EVs
Volkswagen has been a little slower to market with a fleet of electric vans than some rivals. It trialled an e-Crafter more than five years ago, while an electric version of the popular Transporter by conversion specialists, ABT, proved successful during a limited run. However, starting with the launch of the ID. Buzz Cargo, more are on the way.
Top models
Although no longer in production, there are still some Volkswagen ABT e-Transporter vans available to lease – this was an aftermarket conversion of the midsized-van offering up to 82 miles range and designed for city life. The ID. Buzz Cargo is the other electric van currently available. It’s arguably the coolest looking van on sale, boasts plenty of standard equipment and offers over 250 miles of range.

Volkswagen is the second biggest van brand in the UK behind Ford but offers a slightly more premium edge over the blue oval. For those wanting to go even more premium, then there’s always Mercedes-Benz. For more budget-conscious fleet managers, rivals such as Citroen, Peugeot and Fiat all currently offer more electric van options.

The Volkswagen ABT e-Transporter was Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ first all-electric van – an aftermarket conversion of its evergreen Transporter model. It offers all the versatility of the popular mid-sized van but with 82 miles of all-electric range for life in the city. Volkswagen isn’t making it any more but there are some still available to lease from the original production run.
