The GRIDSERVE Electric Highway has been presented with the coveted ‘Chargepoint Network of the Year’ title for the second year in a row by an influential panel of judges at the 2022 EVIES. Its success was announced at a prize ceremony in London, attended by members of the GRIDSERVE team including Chief Vehicle Officer, Sam Clarke.
The Electric Vehicle Innovation & Excellence Awards (EVIES) celebrates the best and brightest in the electric vehicle industry, with 2022 being the biggest event yet with 20 categories and more than 200 nominations.
The coveted award comes 16 months after GRIDSERVE acquired the Electric Highway and began a multi-million pound transformation, replacing every single EV charger with the latest connected, contactless and membership-free units, while expanding the network with all-new sites including Electric Super Hubs plus the Braintree and Norwich Electric Forecourts®.
This portfolio of EV charging solutions, all powered exclusively by net zero carbon energy, is helping to redefine the EV charging experience for drivers across the UK. Already, three locations along the rapidly increasing GRIDSERVE Electric Highway have been recognised by Zap-Map as featuring within the UK’s top five most popular UK charging destinations.
Toddington Harper, GRIDSERVE CEO, said:
“This award is for the entire GRIDSERVE family who are helping deliver a charging network like no other and is already supporting 100,000 charging sessions each month. It’s very humbling to be recognised by the EVIES two years in a row, but we’re aware there is lots more to do and we remain absolutely focussed on improving and enhancing our EV charging network, delivering the best possible customer experience and moving the needle on climate change.”

GRIDSERVE recently secured an initial £200m investment from Infracapital, the infrastructure equity investment arm of M&G Plc, and these funds will be used to support the rollout of the company’s pioneering Sun-to-Wheel ecosystem. Sun-to-Wheel encompasses generating energy through UK-based hybrid solar farms, distributing this energy through an award-winning national charging network of Electric Forecourts® and Electric Hubs while accelerating the uptake of electric vehicles with the support of GRIDSERVE Car Leasing.
